Everything IdunPod does happens on your own Mac. Here is exactly what that means.
Entirely on-device
IdunPod records, restores audio, transcribes and writes show notes locally on your Mac, powered by the Apple Neural Engine. It uses no telemetry, analytics or external AI. No account is required for the app’s local features.
Your recordings stay with you
Recordings and finished episodes are saved to your disk, in the folder you choose or in the app’s protected container. Transcripts and show notes are saved beside the audio. You decide what gets shared or uploaded.
Microphone
IdunPod asks for microphone permission solely to record what you choose. Call mode also requests system-audio recording permission and captures all sound your Mac plays while recording. Audio is processed locally unless you explicitly choose to publish.
Model downloads
If you choose to transcribe, a speech-to-text model is downloaded from Hugging Face to your computer. Transcription then runs locally and offline. The model host receives technical information normally sent with an internet connection, such as an IP address.
Optional publishing to Idun Blue
If you connect an Idun Blue account and press Publish, the finished audio, episode title and description, and any transcript are sent to Idun Blue for storage and podcast publishing. Nothing is sent without this explicit action. The API key is stored in the macOS Keychain. Uploaded content can be managed and deleted in Idun Blue Studio.
